Office removalists in Adelaide who plan every desk

L01 Office removalists

Office removalists in Adelaide are easy to find and hard to judge, because the work that matters happens before moving day. Moveall for Business, the commercial service of Moveall Australia Pty Ltd, plans an office move with the people who run the office: the office manager who knows where everyone sits, the facilities or building manager who controls the lifts and the dock, and the IT provider who keeps the network running. We write the removal into one quote against an inventory, and then run it as written.

Request an office move quote

Your details go only to the business named on this page, who reply by phone or email.

This page walks through an office move from the first brief to the morning after: how we scope it, how desks are labelled, how IT fits in, how the day itself runs and what you can expect to see in the quote. If you are moving a shop, clinic or showroom rather than an office, see commercial removalists in Adelaide.

Office removalists Adelaide offices can brief in writing

Most office moves start with an email, not a phone call, because several people need to agree on the details. The brief on this site asks for the things that shape an office quote:

  • Where from and where to. The suburb or building at both ends, and the floor or level.
  • How many workstations or staff. The single best guide to the size of the job, along with meeting rooms, a kitchen and any storeroom.
  • Preferred timing. The date or month, and any hours your lease, building or trading require.
  • Anything heavy or bulky. Large printers, a reception counter, boardroom tables, artwork or anything unusually heavy.

From the brief, we ask the follow-up questions a tailored quote needs: the size of each area, access at both buildings, and the heavy or awkward items. Where an inventory exists, send it. Where it does not, we help you build one.

Planning an office move, step by step

  1. Inventory. A list of every item that moves, by area: workstations, chairs, pedestals, filing cabinets, meeting tables, kitchen items, equipment and archive boxes. Moveall’s terms tie a fixed-price quote to this list, so it is worth getting right.
  2. The new floor plan, coded. Every desk and room gets a code, and the same codes go on the cartons. A fit-out designer’s plan or a marked-up sketch is enough.
  3. Access at both ends. Lift bookings, loading dock times, parking for the trucks, the path from the truck to the door, and who holds the keys and swipe cards.
  4. The move window. When the move can start, when the new office has to be working, and which floors or teams go first.
  5. IT and phones. Who disconnects, who reconnects, and what has to be working first. This stays with your IT provider; we plan the removal around their timing.
  6. The written quote. What moves, the trucks and team, the window and anything extra, such as furniture assembly or hanging artwork, set down before anything is booked.

Send the brief, or call Moveall for Business to talk through an office move.

Labelling by desk, so the team can place everything

The labelling system is what lets a removal team put an office back together without asking where things go. It is the part of the plan staff touch most, so keep it simple:

  • One code per desk, office and room on the new floor plan, such as L3-07.
  • Every carton, chair, pedestal and monitor carries its owner’s new code. Chairs and pedestals are the items most often lost between floors.
  • Shared areas have their own codes: kitchen, print room, boardroom, reception, store.
  • Items that are not moving are marked clearly as staying, so they are not loaded by mistake.
  • The coded floor plan is taped up at the entry to each floor of the new office on the day.

Our article on how to label desks for an office move has the full method, including colour coding by floor.

IT equipment and your IT provider

Computers, monitors, printers and phones move as part of the office move, wrapped and boxed like everything else and placed by desk code. The parts of IT that are not a removal job stay with your IT provider: backing up, shutting down, disconnecting, the network and server room, and reconnecting and testing at the new office. We plan the move window around their timing, so equipment is ready when they are.

List the equipment

Put computers, screens, printers and anything from the comms room in the inventory, and say which items need special handling. If something should travel with your IT provider instead of on the truck, the plan says so.

Packing an office

Staff usually pack their own desks: personal items, papers, the contents of drawers and pedestals. Moveall’s terms ask for loose items to be packed in cartons and for furniture to be emptied before it is moved, so drawers, pedestals and filing cabinets should be cleared unless the quote says otherwise. Shared areas such as the kitchen, the store and the archive are where packing help earns its keep. Moveall’s Wrap & Pack service supplies the boxes and packing materials and packs fragile items, heavy items, books, TVs and artwork in purpose-made boxes and wrapping; ask whether it suits your office when you send the brief.

Moving day in the office

On the day, the plan does the work. A typical office removal runs like this:

  1. The team arrives at the agreed time, and your contact shows them the route from the office to the truck: lifts, corridors, doors and the dock.
  2. Furniture is wrapped in moving blankets and loaded in the order the plan sets, usually the floor or team that has to work first.
  3. Clear, safe paths are kept between the truck and the office throughout, as Moveall’s terms require, so staff and other tenants are not in the way of loaded trolleys.
  4. At the new office, every item goes to the desk or room its code names, following the floor plan at the entry to each floor.
  5. Any assembly or artwork hanging in the quote is done, and your contact checks the floor against the plan before sign-off.

The trucks Moveall for Business lists are 3, 5 and 8 tonne Pantech trucks, enclosed removal trucks, plus curtain-siders for palletised side-load freight. The truck sizes on a job depend on the inventory and on what each building’s dock and street can take.

Working around business hours

The hardest part of an office move is often the timing. Some businesses can close for a day; others cannot lose a single morning. A few common ways to plan around that:

  • Move in stages. One team or floor at a time, so most of the business keeps working.
  • Pack the afternoon before. Staff pack and label their desks the afternoon before the move, so the trucks can start as soon as the window opens.
  • Reconnect first, then unpack. IT reconnects the desks before staff unpack, so the business can trade while cartons are emptied.
  • Tell us the hours you need. If your lease or building only lets you move at certain times, put it in the brief. We will say in writing what we can do for those hours before anything is booked.

What an office removal quote should show

A good office quote is specific. Before you sign, check that it names:

The inventory it is based onMoveall’s fixed-price quotes rely on the inventory list; extra items on the day can cost extra
Both addresses, levels and accessLifts, docks and parking change how long a move takes
The move windowWhen the move starts and when the new office has to be working

Our office relocation services page lists every part of an office move we take on, and the parts that belong to other trades.

Office removals across Adelaide

We move offices within and between the 28 suburbs on Moveall’s list, from Adelaide City to Mount Barker. City towers bring lift bookings, docks and Rundle Mall vehicle hours, covered on Adelaide CBD office moves. Suburban offices bring street parking, shared driveways and shopfront doors. The areas page lists every suburb by region.

If the move is bigger than one office, read corporate relocation in Adelaide for multi-floor moves and building managers, or business relocation in Adelaide for the customer and supplier side of moving premises. Desks, workstations and boardroom furniture on their own, including new fit-out furniture, are on office furniture removals.

Questions businesses ask

How long does an office move take?

It depends on the number of workstations, the access at both buildings and how well the office is packed and labelled. The move window is set in the written quote once we know the inventory and the buildings.

Do we need to empty desks and filing cabinets?

Yes, unless the quote says otherwise. Moveall’s terms ask for loose items to be packed in cartons and furniture emptied before it is moved.

Do you disconnect and reconnect our computers?

Not as part of the removal: that belongs to your IT provider. We move the equipment, wrapped and placed by desk code, and plan the move around your IT provider’s timing.

Can you assemble desks at the new office?

Assembling furniture is one of the extra tasks Moveall for Business lists. Put it in the brief so it is in the quote.

What if we find more to move on the day?

Tell the team leader. Moveall’s fixed-price quotes are based on the inventory list, and extra items on the day can cost extra, so a complete inventory up front is the best way to keep the price where it was quoted.
